This class is taught by:

Brooke Sterling

Brooke has lived in the Valley since 1972. She has been practicing yoga and meditation since 1987, and now owns Bikram Yoga Phoenix. She has studied in ashrams across the U.S. and in Nepal. Brooke also plays the gong and practices Reiki. She is diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, and uses yoga and meditation to manage the disease.
 
"I believe that the most basic tools—breath, movement, and awareness—will be what ultimately helps people figure out how to help themselves."
 
Brooke's favorite foods are fried chicken, complex salads, pickled anything, and coffee. As a street social worker for 18 years, she appreciates the absurd and nonsensical. She is dedicated to lightening the load of everyday people as they trot through their daily experience.
 

Jennifer Martin

Jennifer is a certified Life Coach specializing in women’s health and wellness. She is a graduate of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program and has been passionate about mindfulness for over fourteen years. After experiencing life altering benefits from her own personal mindfulness practice, Jennifer began teaching mindfulness meditation so that others could also learn to experience the benefits in their own lives.

“When we allow ourselves to release and let go, we return to who we are at the core and we are then able to get a taste of the inner peacefulness that is always there. The more that I practice mindfulness and tap into this inner beauty, the more I want to be in that state throughout my days."

Jennifer grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut and moved to Arizona seven years ago with her husband, their two teenage daughters, and their two miniature dachshunds.

A 30-minute beginning meditation class held in a candlelit room with essential oils and peaceful background music.
 
Focus is on breath awareness, body awareness, and releasing stressful mental patterns.
